Welcome, my name is Jason Helyar I am married to my beautiful wife Stephanie. I have three wonderful children called Eden, Kai and Hattie. I am passionate about Jesus. I lead worship in my local church and believe faith is something that needs to be lived out. For we are all judged by our actions, rather than our words.

What a year so far

This year has been so busy and different, i feel like my feet haven't hit the ground yet. Up until the middle of March i was working for Superdrug. The first 6 weeks i was commuting 2 hours each way to my place of work, which led to very long days and only seeing my children awake at weekends. During this time i caught the flu and tried to push through it and ended up in hospital. The rest of my time there i was working i Shaftesbury which was about a 45min drive each way. So i was still away from the house for 11hrs a day.

Superdrug was not great, i have never worked for a company who so openly told there employees that if the didn't fit the super cool thin and gorgeous image they wanted that they would be replaced. There business thrives on woman with self images problems, and my job as a manager pushing woman to be more vain. It was horrible i came home everyday demotivated about life. I'm glad i didn't have to stay long. My family and I both suffered from my time there.

But on the 21st Of March i started my training to become a Police Community Support Officer. Which has been brilliant. I had 5 weeks training in Portishead Avon & Somerset HQ. Which was amazing there is so many Christian truths in the teaching programme. It was a really great opportunity to meet and get to know 14 people with the same passion to help the community.

After the training at HQ i started a tutorship in Yeovil. Which has been great, i have seen so much of my home town that i never knew about. I have seen the so many homeless, drug addicts, people living in fear. There has been so much to pray about, and start to make a positive impact on these areas. It is so easy to live a sheltered life, naive to problems around us.

I have just started this week on my own patch and I'm looking forward to forging new relationships and making a different, helping to stamp on injustice and help the poor and the misunderstood. It feels like i finnaly have a full time jobs doing something that fits with one of my favourite passages of scripture. Isaiah 61 The Year of the LORD's Favor 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. 4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long stated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. 5 Aliens will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards. 6 And you will be called priests of the LORD, you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast. 7 Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs. 8 "For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity. In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them. 9 Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the LORD has blessed." 10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.

How much do you know about your community? Is there anything you could do to bring about a positive change?

God Bless all of you.
